Production plans and parts are tracked on our integrated ManFact MRP program. The
MRP and
all business related data are managed on an HP9000
Unix-based system. This resource keeps pace with
escalating OEM sales.
iTECH's in-house SMT
lines offers the OEM customer rapid prototypes and quick
response for short runs, as well as immediate
PC-assembly quality control.
lithium-ion safety and battery
fuel gauge circuits are designed and manufactured
on this line - with cell manufacturer approval.
iTECH’s manufacturing team responds to OEM demand
with the help of our
computer-driven automated parts column. This 23’ tall
system houses more than 3000 part numbers. The automated
delivery function speeds kitting and reduces picking
error.
In summary, iTECH's technology
resources operate to improve productivity, control costs
and escalate quality.
Dedicated assemblers build all current iTECH products
in San Diego CA. This experienced
production staff consistently delivers cost efficiency
and quality metrics to our customers.
Battery fabrication lines produce
complex battery packs with internal fuel gauges and
protection circuits. The assembly process
benefits from automated presses with multiple ultrasonic
sealing and electronic welding systems.
iTECH also has China-based suppliers for plastic and
sub-assembly production. If
product volumes warrant, we can move production to our
China-based resources.
The manufacturing test department checks
all products at the sub-assembly and product stage on
individual automated testers. iTECH engineers design the
test systems for each specific product line or product.
These test stations reduce testing time and deliver
quality at a lower cost.
Finished
goods are quality driven with Six-sigma + Pareto
feedback and 100% burn-in.
iTECH has employed Six-Sigma as
our production quality control mechanism.
Counting defects per million
opportunities has driven the focus to the product - and
the documentation becomes a support tool in the process.
Some of our customers receive monthly reports on
the progress against Six-Sigma. We are currently at
5.79.
iTECH does use ISO 9000-level
documentation control and processes as a core
requirement. We have received audits from
Motorola, Panasonic, Sanyo, Hughes
Network Systems and many other customers. Our
quality scores are continuously in the top tier.
We adapt to the OEMs scheduling and shipping
requirements. Many OEMs order with consideration for
lead times. Some of our higher volume customers have
other programs in place at iTECH to meet customer
requirements:
Kanban
Receive a blanket order,
release with 14-day lead time.
Schedule Share
Receive a blanket order,
customer reports inventory and receipts. iTECH maintains
customer inventory within a min/max window.
